Sequel news knows no boundaries

Coverage of BTTF news turning up in some of the most unexpected places

I was recently notified by a reader that the latest issue of Wizard magazine mentioned our site and the news we've been getting about the development of the new films.  Sure enough, you'll find the following on page 78 of the September 1999 issue (#97):  [Thanks to 'Ryan' for the info!]
Wizard Magazine, September 1999, cover 1 of 2 BACK TO THE FUTURE...AGAIN!
Stephen Clark, president of the "Back to the Future" fan club (www.bttf.com), was recently tipped off by an insider that Universal Pictures might have hired screenwriter Ed Solomon ("Men in Black") to come up with ideas for numbers four and five of the mid-'80s "Back to the Future" movie franchise.

I also recently discovered that a popular entertainment site in France called Cine News has also covered the sequel rumors on their site.  I translated the article from french to english, and it was still hard to follow, but it seemed that the site was favorable to the news to a degree.  To read the article in english, click on the following link.
There's been very little to report this past week in regards to BTTF4/5.  I have received many emails regarding our coverage, and I've been quite surprised to some of the harsh critics.  Not surprisingly, there have been a number of emails accusing me of making it all up for the sole purpose of drawing attention to our site.  The fact that we've been online in one capacity or another for almost five years doesn't seem to factor into the critics' equation — my rebuttal is that if this were the case, we would have done it years ago.  Anyone who knows me personally will tell you that I'm not creative enough to concoct an elaborate scheme like this.  No, I just report to you what has been reported to me through various print and inside sources, and will continue to do so as long as those reports come in.  I'm taking it all on the chin though — waiting for the day that all of this comes to light.  I do find it quite interesting that a major comic magazine such as Wizard would pick up this news to print in their magazine — I mean, if there weren't some truth to these rumors to any extent, I don't believe we would be seeing the amount of coverage we're seeing.

Project updates
WHAT LIES BENEATH:  The Entertainian website reported last week that Michelle Pfeiffer was recently quoted in an Irish newspaper that the plot of this movie is "a ghost story about a man who goes back in time to find the woman he loves."  Huh?  Surely there's some mistake here — I seriously doubt that Robert Zemeckis will weave time travel into this supernatural thriller, although he's been known to throw some type of ode to BTTF in every single film he's done since the Trilogy wrapped in 1990.  The film, also starring Harrison Ford, is scheduled to begin principal photography later this month in Vermont.

SPIN CITY:  Filming began on the fourth season last Tuesday in New York.  Jennifer Esposito has left the show to pursue feature film opportunities, while Heather Locklear is now settling into position as the newest cast member.  Michael J. Fox, along with the cast & crew members of the show, will join George Stephanopoulos sometime next month for a panel discussion at the Museum of Television & Radio called Inside...Spin City.

WISH YOU WERE DEAD:  Add Charles Fleischer to the cast in this semi-BTTF reunion.  The New Line production that stars Mary Steenburgen and Christopher Lloyd begins filming today in Los Angeles.
