It's possible that it might be one of the DeLorean's used in the film, but not necessarily so. I went to AutoExpo 2002 in New Haven, CT a few months back. A local radio station had procured a few famous Hollywood cars for their booth, including the Batmobile and a BTTF DeLorean. Somehow, the DeLorean just didn't look right. It would be difficult for me to descibe here, but it I've seen one of the real cars at Universal Studios Florida, and this one at the AutoExpo justed looked "off." But what really got me steamed: the radio station had advertised a free photo session that would let you get your picture taken with the DeLorean, free of charge, but they ran out of film and closed up shop before I got there. At least I got to see the thing. |

That's Bob Brandys' DeLorean. No, it was never used in the film. Just another replica, although admittedly it is well done. Personally I would have custom made neon installed before I bought those cheesey 12 inch blocks of neon. Also, the car seems like it has been treated with epoxy. Okay, enough bad mouthing Bob's car. He did a good job. M |

Yeah, that's exactly the same car I saw in New Haven. In fact, the whole display is the same. They had that stock car and Batmobile there too. I really wish they had had the car plugged in when I was there. |

Yes, it looks to be clear coated. Bob has definitely put his own touch on the car. The misspellings were done apparently to appease an irate Universal Studios legal representative, but I'm not sure I got the whole story on that.
By the way, I've put up a page for my latest replica acquisition in case you're interested:

I think they changed the hub caps. They look slightly different. Well, you can clearly tell that the car is made out of stainless steel, like the Doc said. Can you tell from the photo what state the DeLorean's licence plate is from? That could tell alot. You probably know that the original is from California. We'll see. |

This car show was in East Ruthorford NJ, and the license plate said California OUTATIME. It was not a real California Plate though |

| Gr8old1 | Yeah that's Bob's car alright, i was planning on attending a dinner with him and other D owners (although i'm just an enthusiast at this point) but things came up. Bob's car is the best replica there is. So good in fact, he had received several letters from Universal telling him to change items on the car, hence "Mr Fussion". The only thing really wrong with his car, other than the neon tubes is the exhaust vents on the back are too close together. Otherwise his car is perfect. Sorry to say Mark, I like your car very much, but Bob's just cleans the house. (and in your 4th pic down, that man standing on the left is Bob, i believe) |

Universal sent Bob Brandys letters of cease and desist because he's using his replica to make money off the Back to the Future name without their permission (and he's apparently still doing so). They never sent him a letter claiming his replica "was sooooo good" or that his car "is the best replica there is." Those are your words and your opinion. Mr. Fusion is misspelled and the car isn't an exact duplicate so that Bob can get around Universal licensing and make money off the car. That's it. Keep in mind that anytime I've had my car out for show to the public it was without reimbursement and only for non-profit groups. The Orange Show Foundation which runs the Art Car show here in Houston, for example, is the one time I have ever taken the car out for the public to see. I earned nothing from the appearance, nor does anyone else who presents their car in the art car show. The DeLorean spends the other 99% of its time locked away in the Atlas missile silo I keep in my backyard. Two stormtroopers guard it, although their blaster rifles are always set to stun. You're entitled to your own opinion, of course. If you like his car better, fine. I'm not sure what a car cleaning the house has to do with anything, but you can bet my car does not clean the house. It doesn't even do windows. Respectfully, Mark p.s. s. marty -- what is up with your non-existent website http://www.88-mph.com/ ??? |

| Gr8old1 | Mark, i'm not stating that those were the opinions of Universal. yes they are my opinions, maybe i worded it a little incoherently. As for what he does with his car, that's up to him. I don't know if he's charging money above his transportation costs in order to benefit. I could understand Transportation costs. If you are doing all non-profit events, by all means, that's excellent. What i meant by "cleaning house" is that in a competition between both your vehicles, the level of detail in his is way beyond yours. Still, Mark, no disrespect to you. I do think your car is very good. As for the website. It should be up and running. It's a repair site for the sunstar models. Sometimes they come through and the doors sag. An FYI page. |

Keep in mind these differences:

the back side windows on this car are still there and have no been removed
there is lots more wiring than the screen used car had
the type of wiring used is not consistent with the screen used car
the model is not the same as the screen used car (notice the gas tank flap and the flat hood -- both do not match the onscreen DeLorean)
the car does not have Goodyear Eagle GT tires as does the movie car
this car is coated with a layer of epoxy giving it a glossy look (unlike the movie car which was the standard stainless steel finish
the power couplings on this car are not of the same type or manufacture
the word DeLorean in the back on his car is painted in
the car has long grey mudflaps unlike the screen car
Go to my page featuring some pics of the car in question for more scrutiny: http://www.markshields.com/bttf-delorean-brandys.shtml Give me a couple of months and I'll post some improved photos and videos of my car that will make you change your mind.
